Is better to start the process by getting an RFM before submitting the application. It helps a lot the process and you won't spend a lot of time on the day of the submission.

They are very responsive to applicant inquiries and the application process is much less onerous then many foundations. Once funded they invest developing the organization and the leadership.

I am not as familiar with this funder but their reputation is deeply relationship-oriented - my advice is always to call and ask if they take introductory phone calls - but to make sure the colleague has read all the details of the website first.
